Venice presents the most surreal, aquatic cartography on the planet. Built entirely on 118 tiny, sinking islands within a shallow lagoon, the 'streets' on the map are actually a twisting, completely chaotic network of 150 canals. There are absolutely no straight lines here; the city is an organic, floating labyrinth that completely defies traditional urban planning.
Venice — the city's layout
A custom map poster of Venice, Italy turns a meaningful location into personalized wall art — completely free with MapPoster.
The Grand Canal tears a massive, dramatic 'S' shape right through the heart of the main islands, providing the only major navigational anchor in the dizzying maze. A custom print of this incredibly detailed, fragile island network floating in negative space is awe-inspiring. Deep lagoon aquamarine, muted historic terracotta, or classic sepia tones perfectly capture the tragic, staggering beauty of La Serenissima.
